Yet somehow I'm thriving. Nobody is forced to go into debt. It is entirely possible to live debt free, and I've done so for the past 10 years. I own my home and cars, as well as every other possession I have outright. If anyone is over their head in debt, they have nowhere to place the blame but on themselves. Even medical bills aren't an excuse. If you're living so close to the edge that you can't pay a minuscule amount each month to keep hospital from suing you then you're doing it wrong. Medical bills alone do not drive people to bankruptcy. Yes, government is truly out of control at the moment. That's no excuse for personal irresponsibility.
