Moms of babies with night terrors...help!?

I think my son is developing night terrors. He is 11 months old. 3 times in the last week he has woke up in the middle of the night absolutely hysterical. I pick him up, hold him, rock him, try to soothe him, nothing seems to work. I can't get him to take his binky, he arches his back, twists, screams, throws his arms around, etc. It usually takes me about 10 minutes to calm him down and then he just snuggles up against my chest and goes back to sleep. Do these sound like night terrors? Have you found any ways to calm your children down more quickly? Thanks
