My God, what have we done?

I agree 100% with your ysis. As to what can be done: popular revolt comes to mind. If you'll notice, the powers that be and their loyal lackies have done a good job of multiplying and exacerbating "us vs. them" conflicts. Citizens now have a bewildering choice: Christians vs. Muslims, citizens vs. undoented immigrants (ilegal aliens), citizens vs. terrorists, Christians vs. gays, libs vs. cons, Reps vs, Dems...etc., etc. Hard to start a popular revolt when we're unsure who the good and bad guys are. Personally, I'd vote for the bottom 99% of the world's economic scale vs. the top 1%. I'm just waiting for a concensus.
